Fathan Subchi, the Chairman of the Central Executive Board (PB) of the Alumni Family of the Islamic Student Movement of Indonesia (IKA PMII) for the 2025-2030 period, has finalized the formation of the board. Carman Ansari Ear Latief, a Special Staff Member of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, expressed his objection to his name being included in the leadership lineup. Latief mentioned that he appreciates the opportunity extended by Fathan but respectfully declines to be part of the PB IKA PMII board under Fathan’s leadership. This statement was conveyed to the media on Thursday (27/3/2025).
Carman emphasized his commitment to maintaining neutrality and avoiding conflicts of interest as a government official. He stated that he wishes to uphold the dignity of both PB IKA PMII as an organization and the Ministry. His decision aimed to steer clear of any ongoing dynamics within the organization, considering his position at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
Previously, a dispute arose over the election of the Chairman of IKA PMII due to conflicting claims regarding the validity of the plenary session during the National Conference (Munas). Despite some parties asserting the legality of the plenary session where the chairman was supposedly elected, the chairperson had announced a suspension.
Akhmad Muqowam, the incumbent Chairman, visited the Ministry of Law and Human Rights office in South Jakarta on Monday (24/2) to address the unresolved matters following the postponement of the Seventh National Conference. During the visit, Akhmad clarified that no official agenda took place during the adjournment of Plenary Session IV at Munas, as various opinions caused a deadlock in reaching a consensus.
Akhmad stressed that the decision made by a group claiming to represent the fourth session was invalid, as the panelists and participants had not been confirmed by the organizing committee. He maintained that he still held the legitimate position of Chairman until the issues from Munas VII were resolved.
Conversely, Fathan Subchi, who proceeded with a new committee, declared himself as the elected Chairman of the IKA PMII.
